Unofficial results for the April 2, 2013 election in Clark and Lewis Counties in northeast Missouri.

HAMILTON SCHOOLS

Even with seven people running for six seats on the Hamilton School Board, the field for the April 9 election came up a little short.

The reason is that Nick Capaldo is the lone candidate for two seats representing residents living outside of Montebello Township.

The lack of a second candidate means the Hamilton School Board will have to appoint someone after the election.

Meanwhile, there are four open seats inside Montebello Township.

Hamilton Mayor Steve Woodruff will not be seeking a third term in office.

Lee County finalized the results for the November 6th election this week and Auditor-Elect Denise Fraise says the 78% turnout was the highest Lee County has seen in the last quarter century.

High turnout in several Lee County precincts led to a much longer night for election workers.

Winners and referendum decisions in each race are signified by bold face type.

West Central Illinois Election Results:

Larry Kruse (R-Houghton) says he is running for a seat in the Iowa Senate to help improve the state’s business climate.

This week, Janna Deitz of Western Illinois University’s Political Science Department and Dr Aimee Shouse, Chairperson of the WIU Department of Women’s Studies, talk about the role of women’s issues in this fall’s elections.

Shouse believes hot button issues such as abortion rights, reproductive rights, and access to contraception are receiving more attention in the presidential contest than in years past. Controversial comments by US Senate candidates Todd Akin of Missouri and Richard Mourdock of Indiana helped bring the issues to the forefront.

Republican John Archer of Bettendorf says he is running for Congress to protect the futures of future generations, in particular his two young children.
