Mountain Stage

This week’s broadcast of Mountain Stage features Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers, along with a special guest appearance by Mike Mills of REM. You’ll also hear a set from lyricist, arranger composer Van Dyke Parks, whose collaborations with Beach Boy Brian Wilson resulted in the legendary “Smile” album. Both Caroline Aiken and Randall Bramblett deliver soulful sets of southern-infused rock and folk, and singer-songwriter Teitur stops by, all the way from Denmark’s Faroe Islands.

This week’s all new Mountain Stage with Larry Groce features a performance from power pop masters Fountains of Wayne, with songs from their latest release Sky Full of Holes. You’ll also hear the blue-eyed, bayou soul of Marc Broussard, along with the powerful vocals of singer-songwriter Grace Weber. Fiddler and singer Amanda Shires brings songs from her new record Carrying Lightning. And you hear an intimate performance from Australian singer-songwriter Ben Lee.

Trail blazing New Orleans jazz ensemble the Dirty Dozen Brass band perform on this week's Mountain Stage. You'll also hear from Nashville songwriting institution Darrell Scott, who brings songs from his latest country album. Irish-American supergroup Solas appears, along with singer-songwriter Jimmy LaFave and newcomer Rosi Golan.

This week's Mountain Stage features legendary blues-rock guitarist Johnny Winter, in a rare nationally-broadcast appearance. You'll also hear from living legend Magic Slim, along with his band The Teardrops. Ruthie Foster stops by with her own brand of folk and gospel inspired blues, and you'll also hear from guitarist Patrick Sweany, and newcomer Bhi Bhiman.

This week’s premiere episode of Mountain Stage with Larry Groce features original honky tonk hero Billy Joe Shaver, with songs that span his storied career, plus a few new classics. You’ll also hear from Banjo phenom Noam Pikelny, the first ever recipient of the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Blugrass. He brings along an all star band for an innovative set of acoustic music. Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame member Matraca Berg sings a few of her award winning songs, and you’ll also hear from Canadian fiddler April Verch, and the Caleb Klauder Country Band.
