Broadcast News Specialist: Morning Edition Host
Tri States Public Radio at Western Illinois University, has an opening for a Broadcast News Specialist: Morning Edition Host/Reporter. Duties include anchoring local newscasts during Morning Edition between 5 and 9 a.m., covering breaking news, and gathering and producing feature material and news reports for broadcast and internet distribution.
Applicants must submit audition material that demonstrates their ability to verbally present information in a professional, unaffected, personable style. A mature voice, good diction, and accurate but unaffected pronunciation is essential. Upon interview, applicants must demonstrate a broad understanding of public radio and their ability to conceive and produce material that reflects that insight to a knowledgeable listening and online audience. The ideal candidate is a strong journalist with advanced reporting and interviewing abilities that reflect the style and quality of NPR news. Proficiency in digital audio editing is required.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER:
1. Bachelor's degree, with course work in radio or radio-journalism 2. Two years of full-time professional work experience in broadcast journalism
Additional information: A Master's degree in Broadcasting or Broadcast Journalism and one year of experience can be substituted for #2.
