During the month, former Macomb High School teacher and coach Daniel Watson and former Hamilton School Board member Dion Gregory both learned their sentences for inappropriate conduct with minors. A Burlington man was sentenced for starting a fire at a church in that town. Four young people from Burlington were killed when two boats collided on the Mississippi River.

Watson Pleads Guilty to Official Misconduct

A former Macomb High School teacher and coach is headed to jail.

Daniel Watson has pleaded guilty to a charge of official misconduct for having inappropriate communication with a student who was 17 years old at the time. The two exchanged over 6,000 texts over a three-month period.

Watson was originally charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and two counts of official misconduct. With the plea he avoids the possibility of becoming a registered sex offender.

Watson Trial is Delayed

The trial of former Macomb High School teacher and boys basketball coach Daniel Watson will not take place until the last week of May. He is charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and a count of official misconduct related to an alleged relationship with a student who was 17 years old at the time. He faces another charge of official misconduct for alleged public indecency on school grounds.

Former Teacher Faces Additional Charges

Daniel Watson, a former teacher and boys basketball coach at Macomb High School, faces two more charges stemming from an alleged relationship with a female student who was 17 years old at the time.

He was arrested last August on a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He has been charged with another count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and a count of official misconduct.

A McDonough County Judge has set a deadline for the pre-trial discovery process in the case of Daniel Watson.

Watson is a former Macomb High School teacher and former boys basketball coach. He is charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for an alleged relationship with a female student.

Watson Resignation Details Revealed

We now know more about the resignation agreement between Daniel Watson and the Macomb School District.

The Board of Education during its February meeting approved the agreement. It breaks down as follows:

*$32,279.72 as compensation while he was still employed by the district during the current school year;

*$11,562.09 as front pay (minus deductions);

*A lump sum of $1,500.00 as compromise of claims.

Watson Resigns from Macomb School District

The Macomb School District has severed ties with the boy's head basketball coach who is accused of sexual abuse.

The Board of Education on February 20 approved a resignation agreement with Daniel Watson. Under the agreement, his resignation took effect December 19, 2011. He will be paid to cover the time period from mid-August to December 19.

Watson was placed on administrative leave in mid-August, just a few days after Illinois State Police announced his arrest.

Superintendent Alene Reuschel would not say how much money Watson will receive.
